Miranda Spurley was born in Atlanta Georgia and calls herself a southern belle with a worldly view! Her interest in the arts is deeply rooted from birth. She believes that creating art is not just a hobby or past time, but involves the willingness to live and think creatively. As a child Miranda was a dreamer, quiet, shy and imaginative. Painting and drawing gave her a voice. Miranda took her first art class in high school, and art officially became her favorite subject.
She went on to attain an Associates degree in Speech and Communications, Bachelor of Fine Arts from Georgia State University, and a Master of Fine Arts from Academy of Art University. Some of Miranda’s professional experience includes, serving as the museum collections apprentice of historic artifact handling and collections management at the Alexandria Archeology Museum, aiding in a number of Exhibitions preparations, working as an intern at an Advertising Agency and serving as a Visual Merchandiser creating a number of conceptual displays for the United States Marine Corps.
Her life experience has given her a number of inspirations including the study of worldly cultures, a new love for her family’s culture and a curiosity to explore her genealogical background. She creates portrait paintings that merge her ancestry to modern African American faces and participates in local art shows to showcase her work.
